Fake or not?
 

Hi, I am in the market for a new radio, and think I'm going to get the futaba 4pl. Amain hobbies sells them for $250 + $50 for another reciver. So I looked on eBay to try and find some cheaper ones and there are 4pl's with 2 recivers for only $230!!! Would these most likely be fake though? They come from hong kong. The link you posted doesn't go directly to any product however, from what I've seen before, I can tell you that it's probably an authentic tx with one real rx (i.e. what comes in the box) and one extra imitation brand rx that's 50/50 to acutally work right. BTW, if you view the 4PL on Amain's site while logged in, it should show you a "member's price" of $219 or on Stormer it'll be $219 when you add it to your cart. Futaba doesn't allow merchants to advertise a price lower than the MAP price of $249.

The futaba is a great radio. My local hobbyshop sold me mine for $210 brand new factory sealed .

Is this fake? It's $100 cheaper then a-main!!! It says it's factory sealed though..

Hard to say on that one but with Ebay, just follow your gut sometimes and if you're more comfortable buying something you know will work from a store you know will be around for a while, then pay the extra and go that route.

Guys i am about to go to a hobby sore and have a look at a sanwa MT-4, it's only $220 any thing I should look out for to know its not fake?

Mt-4 is a good radio if you NEED telemetry. Other than that, the futaba is a more valueable choice. Futaba has more than enough features.

I hesitate to by any big ticket item except batteries maybe from outside the country. It's not worth saving a few dollars to deal with the potential issues. Try your local hobby shop first and if they don't have a reasonably good price go with Amain, Stormer or even Tower etc.

If you have a problem and you've purchased something from Hong Kong, even if the company is perfectly reputable you now have to return something to Hong Kong - that's not cheap - and it's a major pain. It's great finding a deal, but be careful!
