Default Need help choosing a radio.

As embarrassing as it is, I've been using a traxxas tqi radio for all my rc's. Seeing that I was on a pretty tight budget, I had to make due with it and the tqi rx's are pretty cheap. I'd like to upgrade to something better. I don't need telemetry and I don't need something that's the absolute top of the line but I do want a good radio (I'm not interested the flysky stuff.) I know spektrum has a decent selection but I've heard some bad things about their stuff so I'm not sure. I'm looking for something under $250ish and something that has cheap rx options (like those hobbyking rx's.)

if you want cheap receivers, those hobbyking orange dsm2 receivers seem to work, I wouldn't trust them in anything but electric cars though just to be safe (loose reception, car shuts off). In that case you want a spectrum radio, so either the dx3c or dx2s are probably what you want. Going to something like a 3pl would also be good (I vastly prefer the futaba feel over spectrum) but your looking at $50 per receiver.

if you are looking for something new, i think the Spektrum Dx3s is a good unit to have. if you want used, i know the rx isn't cheap, but you can get a Radio post or futaba 4pk
