My Laps transponder wire problem!

I had a My Laps transponder quit on me in a big race during the main and I just realized that one of the wires has seperated right at the case. My bad luck didn't help cause I got the ones they used that black glue to fill the end where the wires come out instead of a cap. Is there anyway that you can open the case with that glue on it or am I screwed? Anyone ever fixed one of the transponders with the wires breaking off at case? Thanks!

I have repaired a few amb, and mrt's in the past, but unfortunately I haven't owned a mylaps long enough to have to disassemble one. I am sure someone has, but with the amb's are glued also, I just traced the seam with an hobby knife until the cases separated and was able to access the damaged wire.

I've repaired a MyLaps transponder, and it's just like Flame said, trace around the seam of the plastic case with a sharp hobby knife till the case separates, then it's just like a previous generation AMB transponder.

I like use a soldering iron to soften the epoxy, both the black exterior and the clear filler AMB likes to use on the inside. Just a touch the iron to the epoxy for a few seconds and carefully pick away at it with a tool of your choice, just don't try to remove too much at once or else you force your own hand to buy a new one.

Desolder your broken leads, and either trim and reinstall, or replace with the wire type of your choice. Make sure you keep good notes about the polarity of the wires.

I like to fill in the epoxy gaps with hot glue. When you're all finished, cleaned and sealed up, put the outer case back on with some thin CA.

I hope I've been somewhat clear with my experience...sorry I don't have any pictures to share.

Well I did follow a guide I found on here and I was able to get it resoldered but man that was a task with the epoxy! I didn't replace the leads cause I am not the best solderer and it was easier to leave the one not broken covered so I didn't glue it alot might have to replace wires in future. Thanks for your replies!
