How to test a brushless motor

I have a revtech 17.5 motor that I would like to test. I just toasted an esc and I want to make sure before I hook up a new esc that the motor is good. Can someone here help me with this?

I have seen them for $60,.......somewhere.

You may have to search a little, but it works great.
