motor issue 1/8 scale

One of the racers at my local track stopped racing after last year so i bought his set up. it was a 1/8 scale buggy (the car). It had an older modified mamba max pro with a older what i was told was an older neu 1717 it has a teal can and is larger in diameter than my 1717 mamba.

Here is the issue if i go to full throttle i would lose power to servo and lose control of the motor it would run away for a quit second then come come right back. i thought it was the esc so i put a mmm esc on it and its doing the same thing. Can a motor cause this? if so can it be fixed?

You didn't mention what other electronics you are using, but Mambas and high drain servos don't mix. Can't guarantee this is the problem, but a simple glitchbuster capacitor or running the rx off of a stand-alone bec could be the solution. I've seen those two fixes solve lots of different issues when a Mamba is involved.

Try adding an external bec

Cheers

im using a ds1313 servo with spectrum. swapped in my mamba 2200kv and it runs fine

The DS1313 is a coreless servo with nothing special in the way of power consumption.

Your older Neu motor is drawing down on the power system so hard that your Mamba's Linear Mode BEC is browning out. Servo's are not the only thing that can cause a brownout.

The only other option would be your batteries sagging under operable voltage, also causing a brownout. Make sure your batteries are rated to the application.

ok so ive swaped the motor onto my truggy where everything is absolutely perfeckt and its doing the same thing with a brand new turnigy nano tech 5800mah 5 cell.

Sounds then like the motor may be shorted across one of the phases, or the phases are way out of whack in resistance.

Try out a diffrent servo that doesnt have more than 5v . Im pretty sure the Associated servos are power hungry . Inless its the motor which its sounding more like.
