which ESC for me?

hey guys, I hav an orion 17.5 vst pro motor with an LRP sphere tc spec esc inside my B4.1 buggy. I'm looking to upgrade to a more up to date esc. I'm thinking about either the LRP sxx v2 or the orion r10 pro. Also what is the difference between the 1-2 s version and the 2-3s version and which one will be the best for me?

Thanks!

orion r10 pro 2-3 cell.
If you can try one, you will want one.
Nothing wrong with LRP but the brakes on the Orion are awesome.

The sxx v2 seems like the most unreliable esc ever made by lrp. You're lucky if 1 out of 3 works after a month.

ok, thanks guys. I think I will get the orion. But which one? 2-3s or 1-2s?

Forget the comment above, also, is this the esc that makes the cool sound when it brakes?

Instead, get the LT4 120 amp ESC from BrushlessHobbies.com. I've owned an MMP, and I like it.. But read the reviews, note the combined experience of the folks who've tried it and say it's their favorite. It's extremely well-engineered, designed by a great guy and his engineer pals in the US, lots of folks say it's the smoothest ESC they've used, and Stan, the owner of the company, is great to work with. There's a whole thread on RCTech, called Brushless Hobbies 80amp and 120amp esc's... actually, here it is: Go check

Oh, and this ESC will be able to handle a much bigger motor when you feel like you want to go lower turn.. or run a different class.

Oh yeah, and it's $68. :weird: Don't let the low price or.. let's pit this nicely.. not flashy website deter you. This thing is as good or better than any other 1/10 scale ESC on the market. Really. Do some research, and give it a shot. You won't be disappointed.

And no, I'm not working for Stan! A month ago, I never heard of this joint.. Now, I want everyone to know. :D

If I had to buy a new speed control and motor id buy Viper motors and escs.
A few of the fast guys run them here and have never had an issue.
I like my Novak and LRP stuff but the Viper stuff is even better.

That viper copperhead seems like a better choice than A sidewinder it has a fan and it looks cool :P

Ive used a few different speedos, lrp sxx v2 being one of them. it was the smoothest along with the orion, but theres a something wrong with the design and it WILL die eventually. May be after 10 minutes of use, may be a couple years. Just look at how many are in the for sale section that are brand new factory sealed. Those are warranty replacements because no one wants to run a speedo that could give up half way through a race. I also tried an orion but never owned one. The cost of 2 of them for my cars along with the programmer was a little out of my price range. All of the esc's i've tried had something about them that I didn't like, even if it was something small and stupid. took forever to finally find one i liked, I tried dualsky track & field, and now i couldnt be happier. It's all I use in all my cars now. tons of adjustability, butter smooth, awesome features for 17.5, and you really cant go wrong for the price. it makes that sound when i get on the brakes too

Now that I think of it doesn't the MMP have a Horrible BEC?

Dualsky is real good esc.i have the xc550tf-mj and works awesome. Its well made and believe they could sell it for more money. I had a tekin rs before and i like the dualsky better because it feels smooth also the people who use them like me and rave about them. Btw im not sponsored or work for them. Im just a guy who want to spends his money on good product not junk.

Yes the MMP has a horrible bec in it. If you put a high draw servo in it, you would need to run an external bec. This I know from experience.

I have now switched over to Viper motor/esc, and it's awesome. No complaints at all. The things are super smooth, run great, and the esc has a built in fan. Also has a strong enough bec to run whatever you want as an accessory. Like a motor fan, transponder, and high draw servo. I would go Viper.

Sorry to bring this back up but will the Dualsky XC550TF MJ be able to handle a savox servo without browning out? it is the savox 1258
