4PL OR KEEP MY DX3R

i'm thinking of getting a new radio. i would love to get a m11x or a 4pks but don't really want to spend that kind of money right now. i'm currently using a dx3r that i got when they first came out. i'm very interested in the 4pl. now theres nothing wrong with my dx3r but i'm just looking for a change. but my question is would the 4pl be a down grade from my dx3r? plus its nice to see the 4pl rx are priced half of other rx.

I currently have both the 4PL and DX3R Pro, I did have the older DX3R too.

I am still using the DX3R for racing and the 4PL for rock crawling. Both are great radios and they have a very similar feel (I do not use the drop down wheel on the DX3R). Both are light but the DX is a bit lighter which I prefer for longer mains. Both controls are similar and I haven't noticed any difference in response speed (as if I could really tell the difference in milliseconds).

I found a source of DSM2 compatible receivers from Targethobby in HK for $10 each, they seen to work. Otherwise you can get SR300 receivers for about $30 - 40 and used 3100s, 3500s or 3001s for good prices too.

The Futaba receivers are $35 for the 2106 and 50 for the 2104. The main reason I got the 4PL was for its MOA programming for rock crawling. I was using a 3PKS with a Spektrum module before. The DX3R is unable to support dual ESC mixing without an external mixer.

I'd go for the 4PL.

Id get the MT-4...

Its better in every single way. Besides not having a back-light.

Fastest radio out there.

Looks, price, reliability, easy to program and navigate the menus, Rx prices, and it feels good in my hands. I've also never had an issue with Futaba products.

would it be worth waiting a save for a 4pks over getting the 4pl?

If you feel the need then save up another $200 and get one. It's a great radio and does everything the 4PL does and more plus the receivers have twice the antennas at twice the price.

Sounds like u r saying the 4pl will do the job just fine. I was wondering if the 4pks was worth the extra $200.

The 4PKS does have the drop down wheel option whereas teh 4PL doesn't. It has more channel mixing funtions for mixing the brakes on 1/5 scale models. But wait there's a new version coming out, the 4PKS R, so maybe the price will drop on the PKS.

The trim switches are nicer on the 4PKS than the 4PL. You can use the trim buttons or rocker.

Don't get me wrong, it's a very nice radio and I did have its predecessor the 3PKS and that was a nice radio to but the 4PL just does all I want from it and saved me $200 plus 4 additional receivers at $35 each. So I saved about $580 by going with the 4PL. Now that's significant.

If it only wasn't so top heavy, weighed so much and didn't have a drop down wheel I would like to try it but not the way it's configured. Plus it cost a lot too.

i have a dx3s and wanted a new radio.The 4pl or the mt4.
My choise was the mt4 because it fits better in my hand and have a integrated antenna(the first thing to brake on dx3s)
The other thing that happend to my dx3s is a wery common thing. The throttle/brake did came out of center, not a big deal but in mt4 there is an adjusting meny only for this problem.

And the battery place is already made to take life/lipo/nimhpack or aa battery. No need to rebild.

When it comes to what you can fit it to or do with it.I think most or everything is covered.
And yes it is very light.

there is no backscreenlight but then again the dx3s dont have it eather.
For almost 4 seasons i didnt miss it.Im not looking at it while driving.

the problem with any airtronics radio for me is no hobby store around here carries them, so holding one with out seeing someone at the track with one is impossible. i'm not going to just order something that i've never held.
