Fried Receiver?

So last week, i went to my local track. I did one lap around it with my 8th scale, and the thing just stopped working. The ESC was fine, so i checked the receiver and it was completely dead and warm. I had to leave the track very early for that, so i was pretty pissed. I went ahead and ordered another receiver, btw it was the Flysky RX. I'm going to be going to the track very soon, and i would like to know what could of caused the receiver to short. So i can avoid it , and not have any problems. The track wasn't wet, it was very dry. Thanks!

Ive had a couple flysky rx go bad, I chalked it up to them being cheap. I didnt think twice about buying another one. I think debris get in them and short it out on the circuit board.
