Charge rate question?
I have a 2200mah 30c 2s lipo battery. I'm currently charging at 2.2 amps. Can I charge this lipo at a higher amperage to speed up the charging process? It takes about an hour @ 2.2 amps in balance charge mode.

Battery manufacturer will tell you what rate the pack can be charged at
Decent pack on a decent charger will have no problems handling a 2c charge rate (4.4 amps or 30 minutes) Cheers |
if the wires on the pack are at least 12ga wires you should be fine hitting it at 5 amps.
Lipos in general honestly dont care how fast you charge them though charging/discharging them hard will reduce the longevity of the battery (not significaly from my experiance) the issue comes with the internal resistance of the pack and the thickness of the wires causeing the pack (or the wires) to get hot. Keep an eye on the battery the first time you charge it and slow the rate if it or the wires get noticeably warmer than when you normally charge them. If they dont get any warmer you're good |

I made a mistake....It does say on the back of my lipo that is has a MAX FAST charge rating of 5c. So what does this mean exactly?
So if my lipo is 2200mah the max I can fast charge it at would be 11amps correct? But I should be totally safe using 5amps in balance charge mode? |
5c would be 11 amps (12 minutes from flat)
No reason to charge that fast unless you are in a hurry Cheers |

you should have no issues or ill effects charging at 2C.
