Alternative to servo tape?
Anyone know of anything? As usual I went to the lhs and forgot something important. This time it was servo tape, and I need to mount my esc, switch, and receiver.

shoo goo, velcro, possibly double sided tape

I got 3M 'mounting tape' at Home Depot....
|
There is actually a new dollar store that is not a chain store. They have a lot of tapes and tools and stuff. Not expecting much out of a tool that cost $1 but the double sided tape they have, might actually work. My parents work tomorrow, and my bro will be here. Maybe I will take him to subway up there, and pop into the dollar store to try out that double sided tape. It seems like 3m or something like that, just an off brand. Worth a shot, should at least hold the receiver and switch down. For $1 and an excuse to go to subway, I dont see what I have to loose.
Dont really feel like biking all the way to home depot or the lhs though. |
Well, there wasnt anywhere to chain my bike up at the dollar store, so I went across the street to walgreens. I ended up getting scotch permanent outdoor mounting tape. Looks almost exactly like servo tape. But it says it holds up to 5lbs. I dont know if that is enough or not. Hopefully it will hold my esc down. It doesnt weigh much, but I dont know if the tape will stick well to it or the chassis.

...try an auto parts store.
Greetings driver- I've had good tape producs (ie. servo tape) bought from the auto parts store.
3M brand Door strip moulding tape is like servo tape. But since you've bought the outdoor tape ( with the 5lb rating ), try it. Jus consider G forces as you are driving the car around. You don't want Electronics dragging on the ground when physics acts upon your car. Good Luck. |

Hey nerdyrcdriver, I hope all went well with your truck.
And I know this is off topic but , the flysky Gt3b had to be the ideal investment (economically speaking). I didn't have the funds for a spectrum system to upgrade my futaba 3pj- the Gt3b was up and running with no problems. See ya soon.:tire: |
the 3m 4910 VHB tape , clear double sided, works. Can resist temp of esc. The grey 3m double sided is ok. Check auto parts store

Just came undone today after about a 20ft high jump over a tree. But I wouldnt expect any tape to hold that force. Suprize suprise I just saw it a couple days ago and now it is nowhere to be found. Probably under my computer that is now screwed to the desk. I am not climbing back there and taking apart my computer so I can lift it up to find out if a roll of tape is there or not. I will see if my cousin wants to go to the lhs tomorrow.
Everyone kept saying check auto part stores. The point was it needed to be within reasonable biking distance without crossing 4 lanes of traffic to get there. We will see, I will probably get back from the lhs tomorrow to find out that it is stuck to a spare tire or something. |

Hopefully hat you picked up will work well for you. |
Lol, I sort of guessed right. I found my roll stuck to my towel I used to clean my blitz at the track. Took the old stuff off, put the new on and jumped it with some pretty hard flat landings and it seems to be holding good again. But I think I will get a zip tie around it as well for insurance.
This thread is 3 months old. If I ever need servo tape, I will just go get it from the lhs now that I have more ways to get there. |
I used industrial velcro to mount the ESC and radio box in my E-Muggy conversion. Works great, actually. 9 months, including a hard winter, with no issues. Just have to make sure you clean the surfaces well first (alcohol, naptha, etc.)
