8th buggy steering servo suggestions

Hi all,

After some ideas for a good 8th nitro buggy steering servo, something with enough torque and as fast as possible, running on 6 volts!

Thanks!

What is the price range?

DaveG28 04-19-2012 10:28 PM

Open on price, as long as it buys quality!

I could also run on 7.4 if my receiver can handle it, a Sanwa 451R? Though have only run on 6.0v before.

Savox and KO RSG seems to have awesome speed!?

the 7.4 high voltage servos are not what they are cracked up to be. they pull alot of voltage. i run the savox servos now and have to charge the 7.4volt receiver battery after 2 heats an practises. first time out with them i ran all day an made 1 lap in the amain and it went too low to work. i run outlaw 8th latemodels. so after every 2 heats i have to charge it back up. now when i ran the futaba 9350/9351 servos, i could got 2 weeks without charging the 6 volt lipo or nmh pack. something to think about for you. i got use to it because i also fly airplanes too. i do have 1 9350 and 2 9351 servos left for $50 apiece if you are still looking to get good ones.. 9351's are still in my mugen buggy..just pm...

The Savox draw a ton of power. I run the Hitec 7950s for steering duties on my 1/8 vehicles. Been in the buggy 3 years now, zero failures, and with the Losi 2000mah LiPo receiver battery, it lasts forever (easily last 2 race days) with a 7940 on throttle. While the Savox may not be what you expected, the Hitec will be more than you expect. Fantastic servos!

Is anyone running the KO servo's, for example the specs on the KO 30100 look amazing!?

Are you running those on 7.4 or 6v? Do you find they have good speed?

I'm running unregulated LiPo in the 1/8 cars but I run the 7940s for steering on all my 1/10 cars at 6v and they work fantastic there as well. They are plenty fast either way. I hated the Hitec servos I'd tried years ago (10 or so) and was dead set against trying their high volt units but a few people kept recommending them. I'm glad I took their advice as they have been amazing. 7 servos, all 1-3 years old, all servo savers locked, and zero failures.

Savox are great for the price. If you're running a decent battery they are fine. I ran the 1258tg's for throttle and steering.

I then switched to Radiopost multi-types. You can't beat the speed, strength, smoothness, and support. 4 S's i guess you'd say!

Check them out, they're awesome.

I've been running a Futaba BLS452 in mine.

They are to be mostly for hooking up to 2cell lipo directly without a regulator that is there advantage. If you use them with more then 2cell lipo its just not that much advantage as you have to use a regulator or use a battery pack. I use them and like them. Each to there own.

Running Unregulated Has nothing to do with the Savox servo's being Power Hungry, There are a few Reports out there about a Few of the Savox servos pulling 10+ Amps at Stall.
