Best soldering station under $100

Looking into purchasing a soldering station. I've been using a butane iron which works great but i'd like to get an electric powered unit. I need something that will solder 10 gauge pretty easily. I was looking at the Trak Power unit and the Hakko FX. Any recomendations under $100.

is this the one you are looking at? because if so this is a very good solder station and track-power is a very good brand so you know its quality and its under $100 so there is no reason to hesitate :lol:

I went with the Trakpower unit and have been very happy with it. Works well for everything from 8 guage wire to IC chips

:nod:That's the one.

I've had the Checkpoint version for quite a while now and LOVE it. Use the heck out of it and still on the same tips, which will last a long time as long as you keep them clean. You'll be very happy with that Trakpower station. Nice choice!

Sorry about the double post but I have a Hakko now that ive had for 8 years and still on the original tip and working good as new.

Looks like the fx888 is going for $80 over on Amazon. Nothing against Trakpower, but if you're going to pay the same price for a knockoff 936, might as well get the real thing I should think. Also, looks like the Weller WES51 would fall within your budget, Amazon has them for $90. That should also be a solid station. I'm leaning towards the FX888 myself.

This looks pretty cool. Similar to the one I use at work. Except I use PACE.

I used to use the Pace MBT model at my old job. They are the bomb. Wish they were'nt so pricey but this looks pretty good. I like the desoldering gun.

This looks good too.

Why people still use electronic soldering irons these days is a little nonsense.

I use this and the rebranded equals and never had a problem.

Get a Goot 32w soldering iron. It is ceramic, heats up fast in under one minute, and has lasted me 7 years. The track owner has had his same Goot for over 25y. They can be hard to find, but they are cheap. Probably set you back $30. Look on eBay for a below 40W ceramic Goot.

This one is well regarded and is what I will buy:

Hakko 888
