Slight Lipo swelling
All,
Have noticed a slight swelling on the side of my new shorty pack after a couple of runs, pictured below...:is this small amount ok/fairly normal? http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/...8/a9327ecf.jpg |
Generally swelling of any amount is not to be considered normal.
You may continue to use the pack but keep a watch for any further swelling then dispose of safely and properly (I usually return it to the vendor and try to exchange for a fresh one). |

When I get swelling in a LiPo, I stop using it and take it in for disposal. I'm not risking my house to a defective battery.
But like said above, I can't see it on your battery unless you are talking about where the sticker defect is. |
Looks fine to me. Some people freak over slight swelling but as long as you pay attention and keep an eye on it for getting worse, to me they are fine.

Yeah it doesn't show up as bad in the picture...but the cell is now full width in my cars battery slot, which I think is unusual! Wish I'd measured it when I got it to see if it's changed now!

Here's better pictures...is this likely "normal movement" and ok to race as long as I keep an eye on it?

Swelling usually caused by too high discharge or charge rate. Either that or battery defective.
Keep an eye on it.

this is why i don't buy expensive packs, next time buy turnigy nano techs for a fraction of the price and same performance. all lipos eventually go bad so why pay more.
