please explain esc amps vs battery amps
Ok I really don't get it.
Ok I've read you calcuate you mah by your c rating. So if you had a 9000mah x 25 you would end up with 225 amps. So what does that mean to a 150 amp esc? Horible example I know but everytime I think I get it something throws me off. |
Motor will have a continuous and a burst amp rating
Battery will have a continuous and a burst amp rating ESC will have a continuous and a burst amp rating In an ideal world you want your Battery's / ESC's continuous ratings to be higher than your motors burst rating Example setup Motor with a burst rating of 740 watts (100 amps @ 7.4v) 120 amp continuous ESC 150 amp continuous Battery (5000mah 30c) Cheers |

Another way- set up your system so that the motor is the bottleneck. If your ESC and Battery can supply enough to meet your motor's demands you're golden.

Hey thanks guys. I'm sorta getting it.
I have a set of 9000mah @25c so that's 225 amps but a mmm is 150. Does the extra amps do anything? |
Only if the motor is pulling more than 150 amps will there be a problem.
The motor is the ultimate determining factor in amp draw. It will try to take what it needs to do it's function, your ESC and battery just supply it. If the motor wants 125 amps of current, your ESC and Battery need to be able to supply it. If they can't you, at best, lose performance and/or, at worst, blow the ESC and/or battery. |
