Brushless virgin
 

OK so I just got my Brushless system in the mail... won it on ebay... it's a Walkera 60a esc with a 3600kv motor (10th scale).... the specs I found say it's sustaining voltage is 6-24v... when I connect my rx and 7.4v lipo and turn the radio on all I get is two beeps from the esc but nothing when I hit the throttle... also when I first hook up the battery there is a flinch in the motor... I know this system came from a working heli and my radio gear from a working working rc truck..... any ideas what might be going on....

did u set up the throttle and break setting when you first plugged it in to the new reciever? And is it a brushless system specific for a heli or a car? And if your runnin a surface transmitter or reciever in a heli or other way around its not gonna work, so that may be the problem

This is the esc I have... and to say whether it's purpose built for a heli idk... add far as programming the transmitter I don't know that I can... I have a pro pulse tx and matching rx also have a jaguar but that seems to be nothing more than an am version of the Megatech....

And to correct my earlier post... it would seem the motor is producing the double tone sound when the receiver is turned on

Appears to be a plane/heli controller. Even if you can get it to work it may not have brakes, or at least not enough brakes for a car.

But, going by the instructions, it says you must turn the radio on with full brakes, aka lowest position, no throttle for a plane. If that doesn't work try reversing your throttle channel.

That did the truck... my camaro roller thanks you..... the motor does seem a little slow to stop, but, that may change when a load is on it...

And just to make sure... this esc would be OK with a 14.8v battery . or sites sustain voltage not apply to battery handling...

That's how I read it, should work with battery voltages in the 6-24V range. So a 14.8V 4S lipo (which actually has a max of 16.8V fully charged) should be fine for the ESC.

The motor needs to be capable of this voltage too (I don't see a 3600kV on the site?). With appropriate gearing of course (watch temps).

Thanks ... my concern right now, is that because it is from a heli, the back of the motor housing is open and exposed to dirt.... can I seal that and put a heat sink on the can....

Possibly if you find a heatsink (not sure of the motor), likely wouldn’t completely seal it though. A little dirt shouldn’t be too bad for a sensorless brushless motor, even many sensored motors have cooling vents that let some dirt & dust in.

Is a good idea to occasionally clean it out, and then oil each bearing with a drop of light oil.

i know people who bash a lot like in the rain and mud, they put this weird putty type stuff on the end of there motor were the open holes are and it keeps rain and dirt out for the most part cause there's always going to be a little dirt or something in there :(
