Lap Counting solutions?

Hello,

I'm looking everywhere for a lap counting system that is reliable and not too expensive.

What do you guys use as a personal lap counter?

I just saw this solution, but it's a little bit over my budget:

Would be awesome if I could use my android phone for this

Does the track have a amb system? If so, it can be turned on for practice.

I have seen this used with a small netbook:

Seen one of these also: http://rclapcounter.com/page1/page1.html

Both times a PVC bridge was used to house the wire, it was built with threaded couplers that he took apart and put in a bag.

A few friends to help split the costs would be nice.

The rclapcounter uses infrared technology? Is it ok for dusty conditions too?

I think a lap counting system is THE best way to improve driving

The club I run has been using the I-Lap system for the last 4 years and it has never let us dow, We use Laps Free software and it is very simple to use. Craig, the owner of I-Lap is very easy to deal with and responds quickly with answers to your questions or customer service aid.
After having purchased an AMB stsem once before, I will never consider buying one again. The cost is simply to high for most clubs to afford.
Good Luck with whatever system you choose.

Thanks! I'm looking at the applications for smartphone right now. If only I could make a foot switch like on my guitar :D

2 local tracks use the trackmate system, they work great for the money. It is an ir system, but I've seen the transponders read through a completely painted body. I just picked up a system for backyard use, but havnt hooked it up yet.

Newest one on the market, IR based.

I haven't finished the android software yet, but I took a tracemate racing ir lap timer and strapped a bluetooth module to it. Works great :P

Hi guys, We are buying the I-Lap system and 10 transponders for our track.
Which program do you recommend?
I already downloaded Laps Free, but have some better program?
