rx antenna routing.

on these 2.4 gh radios does it mater if the antenna goes straight up and through the body or are people keeping it in the body and still getting the same range.

Ever since I've been on 2.4GHz, I've kept the antenna under the body. Range has never been an issue. I race, though, and do not try to see how far I can get the car away before I lose control of it. You figure on a track, the car is probably never more than 100' from you at the farthest point and that would be a big track.

yeah that is true about the track but there is no track here and i will be running it in big parking lots and seeing how fast i can get it to go so it might get kind of far away. i can always just try it in the body first then route it outside if i think it needs it.

but do you run it in a antenna tube or just let it flop around under the body.

Always use a tube to protect the antenna. 2.4's are coaxial and if you kink it you pretty much can kill an Rx.

Most manufacturers want it to be 90 degrees from the plane of the rx circuit board but as long as it's in a tube and straight you should be good. I would just glue the tube to the chassy.
