First a little history...I bought the charger and a Protek Pro 40 power supply from amain in August of 2010. The charger also has the Protek sticker on it. I've taken VERY good care of it and have always had it in my hauler bag.

Now to what I need help with. In the past few months the buttons have slowly stop working. I literally have to put all of my weight on it for it to recognize my commands :flaming: I'm getting so frustrated with it and even called amain and they had no help for me

So what can I do? I tried to connect it to my wife's PC, thinking that it might help to update it. Though I am a mac guy and so I wasn't too successful. I'm ready to throw it out or take it out to the field and pull an "Office Space" on it.

Thanks in advance for any help!

In case you want it, here is the manufacturer of that charger: http://www.jun-si.com/EnProductShow.asp?ID=97 Maybe the contact page could help.

Obviously, something like this could be a number of different things. It could be the switches themselves are going bad. It could be a bad solder connection or broken trace on the board that by flexing the board under all that pressure, maybe makes a connection. Hard to say.

I had the 106b charger for a short time. It had an obvious software defect in it when cycling through the memory slots that caused a major lockup on it. I got rid of it.

the main support for the iChargers is running over at rcgroups.

Try to get some advice there. As for klaymon, a simple firmware upgrade would've helped (as it did to my 106b+ too), they are doing updated versions frequently.

Guys that race dirt have this issue. The dirt gets build up behind the buttons causing them not to move. If you race dirt, this is most likely the issue. My friend took his apart, cleaned it with Kal-Gard Contact Cleaner and a river of dirt flowed out of it.. :) You can also use, I think, a product at Home depot or lowes sells..cant remember the name...

Once he got the debris out from behind the buttons, it worked fine.

Thanks guys for the responses! I did email the manufacturer but the website seemed sketchy.

jimmyG-I do race dirt and I'm going to take a look at it tonight. If you think of the other product please let me know. I'm thinking of even just using the canned air for computer keyboards.

It just frustrates me when the charger isn't even that old.

I had the same issue with my i106B bought from A-Main. I contacted them and they told me to send it back to them. I did and they sent me a new one with their label on it and gave me a store credit for the difference in price (it went down $20).

Nice, huh, for an out of warranty product.

JimmyG 01-19-2012 10:37 AM

Im thinking the product is denatured alcohol. Doesnt affect circut boards as long as the caps are discharged.

tom2tone 01-19-2012 10:43 AM

Ive got some of that... What do you mean about the caps being discharged?

By the way I called Amain and since the charger is out of warranty, there is nothing they can do

I'll just have to wait to hear from Junsi...

bigjayjay1 01-19-2012 03:45 PM

Had a problem with mine amain took it back gave me a credit for the whole value and I bought the duo charger from protek. I bought from amain thou they had my history.

tom2tone 01-19-2012 07:39 PM

thanks for the responses guys!!! I talked to Amain today and because the charger is out of warranty, there is nothing they can do

He did say that he will help me contact Junsi but I need a charger asap. I'm never buying another charger that Amain puts their label on again :flaming:

So now I'm up for suggestions. My criteria is that I need to be able to:

1. charge up to 6s lipos
2. charge up to about 10+ amps
3. I've already got my power supply..protek pro 40
4. It would be nice to charge 2 lipos at once but not a game changer.

Thats it for now...

Thanks in advance!!
