storing lipo`s

is it ok to store a lipo for a week if it`s been charged but not used that day. or do in need to do the storage thing on my charger. and also where can i get a balancing plug extension . the balance lead on these packs are almost to short to use.

I will leave a lipo for a week or so at full charge and have not had any problems.

Anytime when not in use (short term storage) - 3.85v / cell

For longterm storage (months) - Ziplock style freezer bag in the fridge

As soon as a lipo is fully charged it starts to degrade, its internal resistance slowly rises over time and the effect is cumulative

Charge them from storage voltage
Run them
Let them cool if using again
Charge them again
Run them again
Store them at storage voltage when finished for the day

3.85v / cell is roughly 50% capacity

Allthough discharge is not linear here is a handy table to remember (Resting voltage vs capacity)

4.2 - 100%
4.13 - 90%
4.06 - 80%
3.99 - 70%
3.92 - 60%
3.85 - 50%
3.78 - 40%
3.71 - 30%
3.64 - 20%
3.57 - 10%
3.5 - 0%

The storage value is arbitrary anywhere between 3.7 and 4.0v is fine in reality

Decent chargers will have a storage mode that leaves them at 3.85v / cell

Cheers

If keep at or below room temperature, you can store fully-charged lipo packs for quite some time (at least a month or so) without any issue. Knocking down the resting voltage is important if you're putting them away for a longer period of time, such as at the end of the season. If the packs will be stored at an elevated temperature, then discharging them to a lower storage voltage is much more critical to maintaining full pack capacity.

i have 3 7.4v saddle packs. all 3 were charged this morning. i ran 2 of the 3 and those were put through the chargers storage mode witch leveled them at 7.60v . the 3rd pack i just put away for the night and can put through the storage charge tomorrow if i need to. do any of you know who sells a balance plug extension maybe a 6inch. or do i have to make my own. i am storing my packs outside in the shed in an un plugged small fridg, it is getting down to 30deg tonight but in the fridge i doubt it will be quit that cold

You can find them on Ebay too but this is your best bang for the buck:
