3PKS still competitive?
 

Hey Everybody,
I'm in the market for a new radio. I've been looking at the 4PKS, DX3R Pro, M11X, and KO EX-10 Eurus. They all seem really great, but I only race one car in one class: Nitro 1/8 scale, so model memory is not important to me. I really don't think I'll be able to notice the "increased speed" in one of the latest generation transmitters, and don't really care about weight. Previously I owned a regular DX3R, and was impressed with its speed, but ended up selling it when I took a break from the hobby.
Anyway, would picking up a used 3PKS be worth my while , or should I just put that money towards one of the new top of the line radios?

Go with 3PKS

Cruze is right. You can't go wrong with the 3pks. It's still a solid radio regardless of it's age. Depending on your budget for a new transmitter the Futaba 4PL might be worth looking into. All the features and functions one would need and not too expensive (always coupon codes on Tower's front page). Not to mention the receivers aren't too pricy either.

In terms of radios I've gone from 3pk to DX3R to DX3S to 3pm to 4pk to gt3b to dx3e to M11 to 4pks and now back to my 3pk

It's solid, easy to use and tough as nails.

I still have my 3PK and 3PKS and use them occasionally.

I did switch to a DX3R, later selling that and getting a DX3R Pro just for the weight issue. Those 1/2 nitro 1/8th mains were killing my wrist and hand holding the 3PKS, not so with the DX3R.

Both are great radios and I still think the 3PKS is hard to beat and you can get them cheap. If you do get the FASST module with it.

Thanks for the input. I'll probably end up going for the 3PKS. I feel like it will be a little more solid/ have a better feel than one of the newer lower end radios like the 4PL, or the MT-4.
