Onyx 235 Problems
 

I'm a Heli NOOB. Just moved up from 100-200 sized electrics to an EFlite 450 3G from the LHS, and figuring I will upgrade in this addictive hobby, I just purchased an Onyx 235 charger. I'm trying to charge ThunderPower's G6 Propower 3S 65C 2250 mAh LiPo batteries. I've soldered Dean's connectors to the TP batteries, and followed the instructions carefully: Setting = LiPo; 3S; 2250; 11.1 V; 2.0 amps. After pushing the "Start" button, everything seems to "cycling" on the screen menu OK, but after about five minutes, I keep getting a warning beep and "over voltage" error message. What's going on and how do I solve this? Could it be the connected TP balancing board or my settings? Bad connectors / soldering technique? A thank you in advance to anyone who can help!

I dont have this charger but try dropping to 1 amp and see what happens. Usually light duty chargers like this one has a hard time just to do 3s or 4s at a 1c charge rate

A hard time? What do you mean by that? Mine has been doing 3-4C charges at 70 watts with it's internal ps. Does it have a easy or hard time? IDK , it's not hot really. ;)

NO. I just read the specs and AC is 50 watts DC is 70 watts on the ONYX235 assuming at 100% power. I dont believe you unless your running tiny mah capacity batteries to be charging at those rates.

My old TP610 can barely charge my 2S 5000mah at 2c at 9.xxx A and this is an 80watt charger on a DC power supply

Regardless of the setpoint or battery capacity it runs at max power. I think I see what you mean by "having a hard time"
