Thunder power AC6

I've been using this charger for my LIPOs and things are going well. I recently decided to also use it for nimh but have some questions as the manuel is a bit vague and all youtube examples seem to only show how to charge lipos.

Usually with a lipo I have to choose the number of cells etc. For nimh there seems to be no option for choosing an input voltage. Am I missing something for does the charger auto detect it? (if the charger does auto detect, would charging a partially discharge result in the charger thinking the nimh has more cells than it actually does?)

Can someone who uses this charger for nimh give me a how to on charging?

Thanks.

NiMh charging stops when the charger registers a delta-peak on the pack voltage. The charger will supply constant current as long as the battery voltage continues to climb, once it drops off from it's peak by the threshold amount programmed in the charger, it will stop.

Some chargers have you set how many cells are in the pack you're charging so it can register a fault if the voltage is very different than expected, but as long as the charge rate is 1C or less, you shouldn't have any problems.

The charger has an auto function that's usually on by default, its termed 'Aut' in the manual. In that mode all you do is set the upper limit of charging current, charger does the rest. If your packs are new or fairly new, 'AUT' will do a decent job, if they're older or not in the best of shape, you'll have better results using manual mode.

Does the AUT mean it chooses the charing current for me? or the voltage?

In the MAN mode, I still can't change anything with voltage, only current.

Maybe this works diff than some of the other chargers, but in 'AUT' mode charger determines charge rate up to the max current you give it. In manual mode it will charge with teh current you tell it. These apparently auto detect the voltage so you don't input a cell count or voltage.

The Accucel-6 manual is a little better written and the two chargers use the same program internally. You can find the manual on HK website under the files tab.
