What happened to make it useless? It should have updated the software at the most. I cant say this has happened to me yet, but I imagine it is not terminal, try posting your question in the Tekin thread in the offroad section..

updating just takes it back to a default setting, does the hotwire recognize the rs.did you stop the update after you hit update if so it has to go back.try holding down both buttons after you turn on the rs

MAYBE TO COMPLICATED

It's been a long time for me to get back to electric. But since I have a lot of friends that run nitro and electric I said what the heck. So I purchased 1st the Losi Ten 4X4 truck a friend of my game me motor and SCE for it. But Over 25-30 years ago I had an RC-10 I thought it be cool to get the buggy. I do race nitro buggy not good but to have fun. I guess you might say I sponsor the PRo. I got the Losi 22 way more deferent then it use to be, really nice car to have and the support on line incredible.
I purchased the Tekin RS Pro R5 and the hot wire for it. I had some issues with windows, (Who Hasn't) but i got everything working good. so I thought. It even up-dated the ESC software and while going through installation of software it said I had and older version of HOT WIRE. Ok what ever. I finished installing the ESC and the motor (Thunder Power 9.5) in the buggy I went to calibrate the ESC I get the chime but it continues to have blips in form of sound it will not come out of it. The last ESC I had to reverse the THr on the radio, Because they say all Futaba radios have to reverse there THr. I have tried it both ways to Calibrate the ESC to my radio. (It's a PK-4) The main thing is every time I go and change a setting on the ESC and it completes it. I can no longer drive the car no power to the motor when I change any settings, even one as simple as no reverse, ONLY FW-BR. I can undo it with the software (HOT WIRE), or by re-setting the ESC and I have it back to default it works again. I don't care for this ESC the one I got from Hobby-Wing works great for about 1/4 of the cost that included the program card. But I'm all for supporting local Hobby stores. I know some-one is going to say what lights are flashing to small needed more space to see them, or maybe even deferent colors or not so close together. But then it wouldn't be this small. I think Teking has done a lot with this ESC just not sure I will purchase another one any time soon. :( :(

When I say useless I mean now as soon as I did this the esc does not respond on throttle no LEDs no motor nothing but flick the switch on and off an the LEDs light briefly:cry:

Sounds like the USB communication was interupted before the update was completed, this will convert a good ESC into a paperweight.

Send it in to Tekin, they may opt to send you a new one.

Nope, its brain is toast. Your only option is to send it into Tekin. Download and printout the return form and send in your request for an RMA number. You'll get the number in a few days, write it on the RMA form and send it to Tekin.

Send an email to the Tekin support address in their site and ask them what you should do.

They replaced two ESCs for me when my computer messed up the updates, the USB controller of the docking station cut off the transmission before it was completed. It took one of their techs and I about a couple of phone calls to figure out what happened.
