What are your plans for the car ?

Race or Bash ?

What voltage (battery) do you plan to run ?

What speed are you after ?

RX8 ESC has a great reputation, SC4X motors are nothing special

Cheers

Most of the high end motors from the main manufacturers have similar performance, good for 35 - 40 mph

Only real decision is sensorless vs sensored

Sensored
Novak Ballistic 550
Tekin SC4X

Sensorless
Castle 3800
Tenshock SC401

Seems to be a lot of talk about the 4 Pole Tekins, cant imagine they will offer much more than the current crop, time will tell I guess

ESC choices are fairly straight forward

Sensored
Tekin RX8
Castle Mamba Max Pro
XERUN 150

Sensorless
As above plus
Castle Sidewinder
Castle Mamba Monster
Trackstar 150 / Toro 8
Hobbywing SC8

Cheers

Sensored motors are generally a little smoother in their application of power, noticeable mostly in the initial application of throttle

Sensorless motors have a tendancy to hesitate (called cogging) and usually hit with a more pronouced whack of power

You will find racers having success with either type

People will always suggest that the particular motor they are running is the best

Cheers

Id wait for the tekin pro4 motor to come out, from what ive heard/read it will be the best 4x4 SCT Motor around (more power with lower temps than the SC4X) and grab a RX8 to go with it, rumor is Tekin will release a ESC/Combo as well with the pro4 and RX8 together, Id imagine it will be pretty pricey but hey...

Cant imagine the Tekin motor will have anything new to offer

Hard to imagine it will make more power than the Tenshock's in a smaller can

Will still come down to the choice between sensored or not

Cheers
