Castle BEC on a nitro truck

Castle BEC on a nitro truck
I'm trying to run a castle bec in a Savage as a regulator to give the servos 5v off a LiFe battery. My problem is I can't figure out a way to wire in the bec so that it shuts off with the power switch on the truck. The only way I can get it to run the servos it also stays on when I turn the switch off to the rx. If I wire it between the switch and the rx it doesn't power the rx.
Does anyone else use a cc bec as a regulator for life or lipos? I'm trying to avoid having to open the battery box and unplug the battery every time I need to shut off the truck. It seems like it should be a simple task but I can't get power to the system AND have the bec shut off with the switch.
batt>----bec>-----switch>----rx = Power/bec always on
batt>----switch>----bec>----rx= no power

Horizon thinks the voltage is playing games with the servos and thus the rx.
My lhs thinks my steering servo is bad.
I'm trying to lower the voltage because I only have the LiFe or a 2s lipo for a rx battery and I'm getting crazy short range on my DX3s/SR3300T combo in a Savage X. I suspect my radio is faulty but I'm trying everything I can before I send it in and render all my cars stationary. I didn't expect to have an issue with the bec working after the switch. Weird. In my planes the bec is parallel to the power leads and there is no switch. In the nitro it would always be on and drain my batt.
