Speedo wiring question
Hey guys, quick question
I am needing to reverse the rotation of my 8th scale motor, but the speedo I am using doesn't have that feature. No you can't flip the riffs due to lack of milling Is their a way I can re-wire the ABC wires on the speedo to the motor in order to male it spin in reverse...? |
If you are using a sensorless motor simply swapping any two wires will reverse the direction
If you are using a programmable transmitter you can also flip the servo reverse switch Cheers |

I've never done it, so an extra note of caution... But I assume you would need to re-order the sensor wiring along with the main wires. Page 50 of the ROAR rule book has a sensor wire callout and diagram.
A portion, without the cartoon: 8.8.1.3 If the motor is sensored: It must use a six position JST ZH connector model number ZHR-6 or equivalent connector with 6 JST part number SZH-002T-PO.5 26-28 awg contacts or equivalent. Wire sequence must be as follows: Pin #1- ground potential Pin #2- phase C Pin #3- phase B Pin #4- phase A Pin #5- temp control, 10 k Thermistor referenced to ground potential Pin #6- + 5.0 volts =/- 10% For clarification pin #1 is on the left hand side of the above connector with the wires exiting the top of the connector and the plastic tangs that hold the contacts in the housing are facing forward. See drawing below. Sensored type compatible speed controls must use the six position JST header part number X-6B-ZRSMX-TK (where X denotes the style of the header) or equivalent. The power motor wire connections must be clearly marked A, B, C on both speed control and motor. A for phase A B for phase B C for phase C |

If you are using a programmable transmitter you can also flip the servo reverse switch Cheers OP what application requires you to reverse the motor direction? |

Read his post, ABC clearly tells you it's a sensored system. And NO you can't just reverse the the throttle channel..:rolleyes::rolleyes:
OP what application requires you to reverse the motor direction? The 10th scale speedos don't have the reverse motor function, as their is only ONE car in production that needs it and it's in Hong Kong or something. But their are a few 8th buggies. But-I guess that's why I should be using an 8th scale speedo. |
Tekin RS / RS Pro appear to have the Reverse Motor function, though that would make a bit of sense if this is something needed in 8th scale because they share the same software with the RX8.
