rechargeable AA in transmitter?
 

i was wondering if i can use rechargeable NiMH batteries in my transmitter. i have the stock radio (XP3-SS) that came with my team associated sc10. would i be able to charge the batteries from the charging jack in the back of my transmitter? i was thinking of getting some energizer rechargeable 2300maH. what charge rate should i charge them at? could i charge them at 5 amps? how often would i have to charge them? thanks for your help!

Yeah man! I use the ones from costco... i dont have the jack but I pop em out and use the wall charger! 24 bucks at cost co 12batts (8aa and 4AAA) with charger is 24 bucks

Do not charge them at 5 amps. I charge mine at .8-1 amp

get the energizer wall charger,that's what i use with the energizer batteries and they last forever

I have used the Energizer 2500mah and Duracell 2650mah AAs, they worked well for a short time. After a few months they would self discharge to unusable levels almost overnight, I have since read that many people have had the same experience with them. I have been using the Turnigy LSD AAs now for several months. At first they were amazing, I would charge them up, run two practice days and a race day every week for a month before re-charge. After about 3 months of that they lost a little performance, but still hold their voltage very well when I am not using them. I have not used the ultra high-end AAs like Eneloop or anything, but I would bet they cant be too much better than these Turnigy for the price. For charging, I use a Futaba wall-wart charger that came with an old transmitter I bought many years ago. It charges at 0.05A for a super slow charge. I would never charge these AAs over 1A.

I use my charger with an adapter to charge my radio. works good. But yeah...Don't charge at 5 amps unless you want some melted batteries in your transmiter case. I charge @ .5 amps or 1 amp if I am in a hurry. Even at 1 amp they get pretty hot towrds the end of the cycle.

one of the best things i've bought. takes 15 minutes to charge my energizer 2450mah AA's. it only charges 4 at a time but that is nothing, plus i can run well over a month without a charge!

I use Sanyo Eneloop rechargeables [AA] in my Spektrum. These batteries do not lose charge over time like Nimh do. Fully charged to start with, they will have 85% or more charge after a year of sitting around [not that mine ever go that long :) ]

I was a power AA user running my digi cams and have used a lot of diff ones out there. The best were the Maha Powerex NiMhs - the 2300mah. I put several hundred cycles on 3 dozen of them without their losing capacity. They lasted almost 7 years before they started to fad. I bought the Maha 9000 Charger-Analyzer AA/AAA charger to keep them all in the best shape.

I got a new camera that uses li-ion so my AA useage died way off. I was part of a big Turnigy AA LSD order and they've been awesome. I use them in everything - remotes, controllers, wireless mice and keyboards, flashlights, you name it. I just charged some two nights ago from a wireless mouse, 2158 and 2278mah. They are obviously under rated. They are the best of both worlds, low self discharge and NiMh discharge performance. I've bought 16 AA Eneloops to build a TX pac for my 7C, just haven't done it yet. I use some AAA Eneloops in my GPS and they beat ordinary ones hands down.

The most disappointing rechargeables I've used were the green and black 2500mah Energizer AAs that self discharged almost overnight to nearly nothing.
