tuning brushless ESC/motor
the last time i raced Rc i had a T3 with a 10T brushed motor and an old tekin ESC my pops used.
things have changed and tuning is WAAAAY over my head right now. i understand that the tuning options available are a wide variety from timing levels and brake curve. would some one PLEASE explain to me how the "timing" works in brushless motors, what NOT to do, and any advice for my current set up below. AE- SC10 FT Novak kinetic with a ballistic 13.5T 84 spur 23 pin(as of right now right now) ive learned how to drive the truck, stay off the pipe and lid and maintain top 5's but i know it has more potential. the tracks i run where im at are built for 1/8 scale and nitro so the jumps are longer and right out of the turns. i just need some extra boost and i know the ESC and motor have it i just need to unlock it, but i wanna do it correctly so i dont burn anything up. ive read the manual for the ESC, i just need to know the basics of the "tuning". i appreciate any help and i take no advice lightly. thanks guys! |
When I was playing with my timing I didn't notice hardly any difference. I heard it will make it run hotter too so I put it back to 0 degrees. I would just change the "punch control" and/or the gearing.

More motor timing will let the motor rev higher with a reduction of torque. With more motor timing, you will also heat the motor up more as well. The timing of the motor combined with these new speedos with dynamic timing can create great speed and performance. Make sure you monitor motor temps. Nothing higher than 160f.
