so I'm trying to update my firmware of my XR10 pro 160A to the 4.3
When I connect the Program box to the PC it doesn't say "connect to PC" It just say "PB-3.2.31" and it just stays there.
Is my program box defective?

Hi
Has anyone tried running the HobbyWing QuicRun 1080 WP in a 1/10th scale touring car?
A local club near me has a class specific to Tamiya 540-J brushed motors and looking for a cheaper alternative to some of the more costly Tekin brushed ESCs.
Don't see why it shouldn't work as the older Tekin brushed ESCs are now being labelled as crawler specific.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have ran the QuicRun WP-1060 with a 27T Axial motor and that worked very well in my NRX-12 which was a local 1/10-Mini Spec Class that our club used to race... throttle was nice and smooth, here's a demo of this ESC in action:
I modified the jumpers so they would be flush with the heat sink and that allowed me to install a cooling fan on top so I could gear this sucker to the moon

Now that's impressive!
Looks like fun, thanks for all the great tips as well. I'll give it a shot but will gear it modestly to start then gear up and watch temps to the point where I'll need a fan and take it from there.
I noticed you had the fans connected in parallel - one on motor, the other on ESC - then connected to the RX, then the fans will only turn when the ESC is turned on.
Sweet and thanks again for the help!

Yup, the BEC had no problem with handling both fans... IIRC my FDR was around 3.25 with the NRX-12, and I want to say that I ran around 3.75 to 4.0 with the 27T in 1/10 TC with RiDE tires:

@Controversy, I tried to send you a PM, but it appears you have this feature disabled. I happen to have a brand new XL5 ESC for sale here:
FS: 1/10 electronics and buggy tires
At one point I had switched over to the XL5 and found that it had a stronger brake when compared to the WP-1060.
I have no idea how strong the brake on the WP-1080 is, but if I had to guess I bet it's probably stronger than the WP-1060 as well.

Trying to figure out the difference between the XR10 limited edition(HW30112604) and the xr10 pro esc(hw30112600)?

Normally the switch is located on most of the XR10 variants like this:
Here in Australia I can still buy one, but I think they are discontinued. They are quite a bit cheaper than the pro. Just seeing if the specs are similar but hard to find info on them.

Found some specs posted here, all I can tell that is different is the external switch:
https://metrohobbies.com.au/hobbywin...ition-esc.html
HobbyWing is generally good about supporting discontinued products, at least that's been my experience dealing with the USA distributor, they have offered me a deep discount in the past for a replacement of a newer model that replaced a discontinued version of the ESC... I wouldn't hesitate buying a less expensive ESC that was discontinued knowing that forward support is still there... maybe double check with your distributor in Australia just to be sure?

The reason for my interest in the 1080 WP in particular is that the ESC is brushed, competitively priced, is rated at 80A continuous and has long battery and motor wires so I can solder 4mm bullets for the battery leads without the need for a Deans / XT60 connector.
I'll be running the ESC on an outdoor asphalt track, which is technical and bumpy with foam tires so I don't think having the strongest brakes is going to be critical as I'll only be using a Tamiya 540-J motor.
The bonus is all the programmable features and it even comes with a program card.
I'll pull the trigger on the 1080 WP when the Rand / Dollar improves and maybe it has suitable performance and functionality that meets my needs.

Trying to update my XR10 Pro 160A and my XR10 Stock 80A and I came across the BRCA version and the non BRCA version.
.... firmware has the regular "XR-4.3.01" and the "XR-4.3.01-BRCA" whats's the difference?
I race carpet for the Pro and dirt for the Stock esc..... is there advantage using one of the other?

What are my replacement fan options for the XR8-SCT? Would any 30x30x10mm fan fit? I was looking at the Maclan 30mm HV turbo fan or the Yokomo or Yeah Racing fan. Not sure if I would need longer screws - anyone know what size/type of screw this ESC uses?
My issue is my home track is very dry and lot of small rocks and I am going through fans like crazy. Want to try some screen or coarse foam but not sure if need longer screws.
