There is no such thing as too high C rating on a battery. To low however can cause ripple voltage issues upon high transient loads, and considering how much battery labelling companies overinflate their numbers I wouldn't go below 40C in the 5000mAh range.

The C thing is a hotly debated topic. To some degree (maybe a large degree) it is just "specsmanship". There is no real standard for how battery companies determine the C rating. If you do the numbers, 30C for a 5000 mAh battery equals 30*5=150Amps , so that should be fine for a 120amps ESC which is probably running nowhere near 120 amps continuous. RC cars tend to run is bursts anyway compared to an airplane to helicopter which are usually run more continuously.

But peak current isn't the whole story. In an perfect world, higher C should equate to lower IR so when you draw current, the voltage to the ESC will sag less. This means you will get more power delivered to your motor with a battery that has lower IR than some other one. But, companies don't usually list the IR of their batteries. You can measure them once you've bought them or go on a forum and ask somebody what their IR is. You can't just assume one with a high C rating is better.

90C is really high. If SMC sells that without a big price premium, might as well get it but there may not be much difference between that and another brand at 40 to 60 C.

I love the old 1800kv truggy motor, will the new G2 4274 motor be released in a similar kv version? 2250 needs an uncomfortably small pinion.

Your describing LVC (Low Voltage Cutoff) is set to high for your application.

RED LED on indicates this.

Hello this esc has been available for possibly 10 days possibly a couple less. However they are incredibly popular - you might check www.hobbywingdirect.com

Hello. Few questions:

1) Noob question. If the XR8 SCT for example says it has a 'switchable' internal BEC 6v or 7.4v and I have a HV servo that has speed/torque at 6v and then more speed/torque at 7.4v. I can simply program the ESC to go the full 7.4v?

2) Are guys running/liking the XR8 SCT in their Truggy's and how does it fit (ET48.3)?

3) Is the 120a SCT Pro ok for a Truggy? I have one in my tool box, was wondering if I should go with it or go up for an ET48.3.

Club racing 2 or 3 times a month (outdoor loose dirt, big track/jumps). On a little bit of a budget for this truggy. I have HW in my other 4 cars.

Okay I have tried and tried to get this thing to connect to my ESC. The light shows on, I am connected to WIFI, done the password change. Click to connect ESC and it won't do it. I am trying to connect to the older blue Xerun 150A ESC. It does not have the external fan connector for me to tap into. I tried the supplied Y connector that has 3 wires on one side and 2 on the other to no avail. I also used a standard Y connector. ESC wire on one end. WiFi Express on the other and plugged into the RX. Get it powered, and connected to wifi, but not to the ESC. What am I doing wrong?

Well I haven't had to connect to that esc yet (I will when I build my truggy soon). However, I did experience this same thing when I first got my wifi adapter. After much frustration, I decided to connect the car to the laptop (old school way). Everything connected fine so I knew the esc wasn't my issue. While I had the esc connected to the laptop, I ran firmware updated. Then I connected the wifi adapter and boom...it connected just as expected. I went to another car and tried starting with the wifi...same problem. Once I updated the firmware on the esc, the wifi worked fine on this one as well. The two esc's that I was using was the rx8 and v3.1. I haven't messed with the rest of my esc yet. I have an older blue 150a, two sct pro, another v3.1 and two juststock. I am guessing that unless I am trying to connect this device to an esc that came out after the wifi adapter was released, I will expect to update firmware before I can successfully connect the esc to the wifi.

Hope this helps

I use it with my XR8 plus in both cars, y harness is no issue. also it is recommended to remove the WiFi Express before running your car. I use one for both, No issues here Love It!

Thanks guys, I'll try the ol' update thing first. I forgot to mention that I did hook it up to the LCD multifunction box before I hooked up the wifi express just to jot down all my settings that was currently on it...It hooked up fine. Will try the old fashioned way tonight.

I heard by changing the stock capacitors in my my Xerun Stock Spec v3.1 esc , it will add more punch and power in blinky mode (zero timing)..... is this true? If so, which capacitors should I use?

Nevermind... I found this

Still nothing even after updating firmware on the big ESC. Was able to connect to my xr10 Pro no problems. Tried both Ys again. Tried other ports on receiver. Tried I'll be damned if I'm going to run an external BEC when I don't have to. Bought this to make things easier on the 8th scale with a hard to get to RX...Grrrr

After thorough testing tonight, I've come to the conclusion that it won't work with this speed control. It will work with the multi function box, but not with the wifi express. And neither will work with a y connector while still connected to the RX. Which means I will just have to dig into the RX box every time I want to make a change. Disappointing. For the record, I am no electrical expert... Obviously. Haha

I'm new to this device. I was looking to get a programming card for my juststock esc for my b5m, but I don't know if I should get this or the programming card. Does this completely replace the card? Can you update esc firmware using this like you can on the programming card? Because if the card and the wifi module do the exact same stuff, I will get the card to keep weight down, and because I will be using it on an 1/8 buggy in the future.
