Extreme stock is great for 17.5, it's 60amp.

Buy the Xerun v2.1 120amp for blinky stock and mod. If you want a lot of tuning options in the software, buy the best which is v3. Although, if you still crash often, the v3 won't be worth the extra $100.

So the extreme stock esc won't run a 17.5 in blinky

Anyone run the Xtreme stock in a short course with a 17.5? Can it handle the extra weight?

Xtreme stock is great for 17.5. However, I would still spend the extra $30 and buy the 120amp to get the most out of the motor.

I buy an ESC to run any motor the car could handle, that extra $30 is worth buying the 120a instead of the 45a "juststock" ESC.

I got to say i enjoy my sct pro.. but with the high amps and heat i would go with the sct pro or any of the 120a esc's i may try the xtreme stock in my scte to see if it can handle it.... ill let you know when i get around to it

If your gonna run buggy or short course that has to run blinky mode. Don't buy a SCT pro, there is no blinky mode. The firmware cannot be changed like the 2.1 120 amp esc.

Borrowing a buddies sc104x4 running a 120a v2 hw esc. He has the venom 5.5 motor http://www.atomik-rc.com/Venom-Red-5...category=76760

Guessing it's a 4pole, but not sure. I have the HW digi box which I have used for my 120a v2 esc on blinky in my 2wd 17.5, but I want to program the HW in the sc10 4x4.

Tried searching, but most have listed kv not turns. Anyone run the sc4x4 on high traction clay, mid sized indoor off road track? Previously this was run outdoor on a very dusty and loamy track. I want to make sure I don't smoke the esc or the motor. Looking for a good starting point that I can adjust as needed. I read some dial out the drag brake and set the EPA low as well. Are there existing setup sheets anywhere? I run SpeedPassion so I'm used to more complete setup sheets. Also this is on a spektrum dx3r radio.

Thanks

Momo

What do you guys think is the best overall combo for a 4wd buggy? I run a 10.5 in my 2wd and its pretty quick. I was thinking like 5.5-6.5 for a 4wd. Hobbywing stuff confuses me though.. I dont know what to buy.

Go for a 6.5 with one of either the v3's or the xerun v2 120 amp esc.

It really depends on the track. On a larger track with room to stretch the legs of ur vehicle, then a 5.5 or 6.5 plus timing and boost would be worth it. I race mainly on a smaller indoor clay track, currently I have an 8.5. Many folks I race against are de-tuning them since they can't fully utilize the power. In the summer when people head outdoors for racing on bigger tracks then faster motors come out or the timing and boost get added.

I've been happy with my v2 esc and it's ability. Def go the 120a route, v2 or v3. Nice choice for a budget.
