Over-heat protection. Did you measure the temperatures of the motor and ESC?

So I had an XR8 Plus that's been in my 2+ year old ET48.3 and I recently discovered that the plastic case was cracked... after contacting HobbyWingDirect, they were able to sell me a new enclosure for about $15 shipped

This included the bottom plastic case, red band, rubber seal, heat sink tape, 4 screws and a new heat sink top plate:

Everything swapped out very easily, I think I spent more time cleaning the years worth of dirt that had collected on all the internal parts, ha!
Now it looks just as good as new again

listening to all the beeps and tones can be VERY challenging, but with A LOT of patience, it is possible to program the ESC, I've done it in a pinch, but if you want to eliminate any frustration, then I would consider using a program card:

this is where i'm confused about the card = a separate battery is needed for powering this program box when ESC has no built-in/external BEC ????

Whats a BEC?? will I need a separate battery supply?

what about this one? I'm not into the fine tuning, not racing.. https://www.hobbywingdirect.com/prod...iant=172030922

Did you follow the flow chart? It's the first programmable feature. Sounds like you're looking for option #2 which is forward/reverse with brake.

I was trying, it just went into full blast throttle...(without touching the transmitter) I would have to reset it..

Shouldn't do that if you're getting it into program mode via the flow chart.

I would contact HobbyWing to see if it will work with the XR10, I know I couldn't get the LED card to work with my XR8 and had to upgrade to the LCD card. You can also get a USB adapter and download the free software this will work for ALL of their ESC's for sure:

Yes the XR10 includes a BEC = Battery Eliminating Circuit, no need to hook up an extra battery, simply power up the ESC like normal, then unplug the fan on the ESC and plug in the adapter to that port to provide power and program the ESC at the same time simple as that.
