Thanks for the tip, but it seems the sensor board in the motor is damaged, or works incorrectly. It is also possible that this sky RC motor doesn't really compatible with the XR8 SCT ESC...
I don't really want to purchase into a HW G2 motor. I think I will use the system in sensorless mode during the season...

Is there something I can do that will "wake up" this ESC? Maybe a rest of firmware or something?
For this issue I reported, is it possible the switch itself is bad, at least the button that allows you to drop into setup mode?

The ESC is sealed with resin since it is waterproof so nothing I can really get to there to see, but maybe the switch is bad as other features like powering up and responding to the program card work fine.

Is there a way to validate this?

I've got a Hobbywing max 8 that I blew the capacitors, brown stuff is oozing out from 2/3 capacitors. Could I change them out? or use a Castle Creations CC Pack?

This is on-road related but since this thread is more active I'm hoping that someone here will have some info for me:::::

I'm going to be using 1/8 Hobbywing esc's and motors in 1/8GT8e class this season but have a question. In HW's 4268 series manual it says the following, "The motor timing is 30 degrees by default . The motor timing should be with in 30 to 40 degrees if you want to activate the Turbo timing. And the timing can be within 20 to 40 degrees if you have no intention to activate the Turbo timing." If I'm reading this correctly, if I set 25* of motor timing any turbo that I try to use with esc will have no effect???
thanks for any further info

With the XR10 justock, do you need to unplug esc from receiver to program it or is it like the XR10 pro?

I have an XR8 SCT in my sc5m and I've been running a Hobbywing 7.5 motor on it since it was new. This past weekend i went to a different track and switched out the motor for a trinity d3 17.5 and i have no punch at all. From a dead stop i can go full throttle and the truck will slowly roll about 6ft and then it takes off. I tried re-calibrating the esc and i have the punch turned up all the way, I also tried another 17.5 motor with the same results. I changed out the sensor wire and it still does it. Everything is wired ABC and all radio/esc settings have been triple checked. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hello!
I also have the XR8 SCT ESC. I have had a similar problem with it. I use it with a skyrc 2150Kv motor. When I tried to use it with a sensor wire, the sytem had a huge cogging effect. The car couldn't start from stop when I hit the full throttle.
I tried everything too, but there was no difference. I ended up using the motor without sensor wire. In this way It works flawlessly, and It is very smooth.
Have you tried it with no sensor cabel? Does it work good with the hobbywing motor?

I tried it without the sensor cable and it made no difference. I'm going to put the 7.5 back in it tonight and see if if works or if I still have the same issue. Both 17.5 motors I tried worked about 3 weeks ago with a different esc.

Did you run it in full sensored mode? They are supposed to work only with howwbywing motors that way, you should switch to hybrid mode for other motors.

I put the hobbywing 7.5 back on the xr8 sct and it works fine. I also put the Trinity 17.5 on a different brand of esc and it works fine. Can I just assume that the xr8 sct doesn't get along with other brands of motor?

i assume that's the case, reminding me that my old blue xerun had similar problems with skyrc/toro/trackstar 4p motors, this is why i went for original HW-motor this time.
Get a HW-motor or a proven working one or just use the motor sensorless

The 17.5 didn't work sensorless either.
