Is there any reason the WiFi Link software on the Google Play store is requesting permissions to access device and app history (scan which apps are running, view browser history and bookmarks), and device ID and call information (read phone number, device ID, whether there's an active call, and the remote number connected by a call)?

We've already established that...

Probably so it can ensure no other apps disrupt it while programming. HobbyWing is a reputable company so they're not going to try to steal your data. Put down the tinfoil hat.

Just picked up the xr10 stock pro. One problem though, when I attach the program box it just lights up but doesn't display anything. It works fine on my stock spec esc though. Does it need different firmware to work on the newer esc? thanks

Are you plugging the programming box into the fan port or the receiver lead? Some HobbyWing ESCs program through the receiver lead and others plug into the fan port.

For Chinese government data mining/spying of course!
They probably require features like this from all Chinese companies producing wifi/ble compatible products in mainland China (which is alot).

Downloading phone apps left and right is sketchy, I don't care who says otherwise. Waaaay too much info on phones these days, I don't even like having email linked to it.
Just wait until your whole life is snatched from your phone, then come running to me for your tin foil cap!

I got one sitting here in the box for installation in a DESC410v2 4x4 SCT, looking forward to hearing what you see.

If you don't mind can you post what electronics you will be running it with?

Im running a savox servo#1257
I use a spektrum radio
I am using the Hobbywing 4000kv 4 pole motor.
I ran the truck up and down the street and it feels really smooth and with the brakes adjusted at 37.5% and the radio down to 65% brakes this thing stops really smooth! I'll let you know some more after racing Saturday.

Well the new speed control is awesome! Very smooth and drivable, lots of power and easy to adjust to your liking. I ran the bec at 7.4 but turned it back down to 6.0 later on because I hust didnt feel I needed any extra speed for the servo. I hope there are some new sc motors in the works soon. I ran a 4000kv with a 17 pinion and temps were reasonable

good to hear!

I got mine installed, went quite well in the desc410v2 with room to spare. It did kind of throw me initially on setting the ESC up as soon as I connected my programmer box it wanted me to update "something". It wasn't exactly clear on what needed to be updated but after doing the ESC and then the LCD box it went fine.

I woudl have liked to have seen a 6.6V setting on the BEC as some servos for some reason are spec'd to that. Not sure how much that would have been to do.

I am looking forward to trying it out saturday.

I am looking to possibly get my 6 year old a 2wd buggy for christmas. I am trying to decide between the XR10 juststock ESC and the Quickrun version. The specs seem similar but the Quickrun comes off as more sealed to the elements and has timing capability, with a slightly cheaper price.

Anyone know the real differences?
Can you set the Quicrun to blinky mode?

As for motor probably get a cheap 17.5 like say a used V10.

Well it looks like tge Quik-run 10 sensored is able to run blinky or not but that one is not waterproof. The Quik-run non sensored is waterproof but does not offer blinky. The price difference is very small between the 2 though. Here is the page on FalconSEKIDO.com http://www.hobbywingdirect.com/colle...ushless-system
