Every hobbywing motor I have had when turning my hand you can really feel the magnetd pull to the next spot.

Does it do it at low speeds with power? Or just when your pushing it slowly on the bench/ground?

could also be the bearings...they do fail and that could be a easy fix

Does it at low speeds mostly but I have heard it grind and top out at about 3/4 throttle as well.

Also happens at full throttle if I try to turn to hard or plant it after a hard corner.

Dont think its the bearings, its only been run for a total of 10 minutes and out of that not longer then a 5 minute session.

You have probably already said it but what battery are you using? What settings are you running? What filmware? What esc?

ESC = 60amp V2 with stock firmware.
Battery = Gens Ace 5300 30c
Settings = Blinky, Punch control 2, Forward w/ brake only

Cant remember the rest off the top of my head.

Do you have the pc program to update the filmware? Might be a bug in the stock filmware. I ran the 930stock filmware when I had my 13.5.

It's worth a try anyway. I only ran the stock filmware that came with the esc once. Then switched filmwares, but I don't recall having a problem with it.

Well I have 3 things left to try.

1) Firmware Update
2) Rebuild Gear Diff
3) Try new Sensor Cable (but seeing how it does it with and without the sensor cable I dunno)

Hey All

if anyone who has access to the "support" email account could please have a look at the email I sent out and answer it, that'd be great... no answer since last week to a rather technical set of questions...

thank you!

Paul

Well upgraded to the v3_508_No Timing firmware and nope still happens.

Now also happening on the Reedy 3300kv motor, so I rebuilt the diff last night, found that there is a spot on the idle/clutch gear where the teeth dont meet exactly. Checked for foreign bodies nothing found still doing it so going to try a gear diff from an old B4 I have.

In other news I think I may have Fubared my 10.5 motor, it now just squeels at me and will not rotate the wheels.

Unfortunately I am still new to the hobby and cannot spend anymore time on this, going to purchase a Novak system and new ball diff for the SC10 and be done with it.

Thanks for everyones help.

Good news!

Motor and ESC are Sorted, after 10 minutes of hard driving on Tarmac (no more subcultures ) motor was cool and no slipping/grinding noise.

What was it, well a combination of mine and HobbyWings stuff ups.

Lets just say, new gear diff and new sensor cable sorted it.

Moving on.....

I am running a 10.5 motor and locally a 10.5 motor in Pro2 is run with no Timing, my question is with the 10.5 motor and no timing would I be best to run the V3_508_Stock firmware?

If you have to run blinky, then run the 508. (this will let the esc blink) if your just opting to run with no boost/turbo then it doesn't matter what filmware you use. Just set the boost/turbo to 0.

Can anyone tell me the rear bearing size in the hobbywing Xerun 540 4-pole motors? The front is a 5x16x5, but the rear is smaller, I'm guessing 5x12x5 but I didn't measure and don't want to take the rear end bell off if I don't have to.

Thanks
