I've got the MX-3X and love it. I think it is a really good product and a great value. I have opinions about telemetry but no experience so I really can't add anything there.

thats the only reason i would of gotten a radio with telementry
BUT
MX-3X and M11x has a battery fail safe thats easy to setup, if the battery voltage drops under 3.8V (default) it goes into fail so no need to monitor it, ive had both radios and they are the best radios money can buy IMO

most important in a TX is EPA and Trim. Its not the tech stuff built in the TX thats lets you win races. its the driving that counts. IMHO.

that's why i sold my dx3s and bought an m11x...:D.... spektrum should have included a battery failsafe in the dx3s... i wonder if the MT4 has the same failsafe feature on the m11x...

i think it does, but not 100% sure. i would like to know that also. but i wouldnt trade my M11x for any other radio out there.

depends what you are doing, on just how useful telemetry is. I dont use my cars/trucks for anything other then playing...but the boats, thats a different story.

In my boats that are used for going after national records... its a big help for tuning. Head temp, EGT, RPM all give you the info needed to help in getting the most performance out of your setup. RPM really being the biggest benefit, as knowing the speed im running, and RPM im turning.. i can calculate real slip %, which helps determine which direction to go in prop tweaking, and let me know if i need more or less pitch to match the RPM the engine wants to be at.

Though i have no experience with the Spectrum telemetry as you could not pay me to put anything Spectrum in anything RC i have. I use EagleTree and download data to laptop after each run instead of trying to look at a screen while driving.

I agree with Vision, I don't look down at the temp when I am racing, if I hear the alarm(beep) go off I will pull off and save my motor and maybe the esc as well, the temp telemetry is very useful to me, running electric I like to get the maximum gear without burning anything up, great when testing for gearing, no need to run and hit it with my temp gun, and for the record, my onboard telemetry is never more than 2 degrees + or - of the gun.

As a society we have become too reliant on technology and less reliant on actual know-how and knowledge. Telemetry is the RC application of that.

I like knowing my max temp, and top speed when i finish a run. I've been very pleased with my Spektrum stuff. It's a bit to much work for some people. I don't have a nitro so i cant say anything about the head temp sensor but the electric thermistor works great.
