DSM VS DSM2

Hey guys , some people locally are telling me to give up my spektrum DSM sr300 receivers along with DX3R , because they say they suck

and that the 4pk is the only good controller there is along with their servos

I would like to know

whats the big difference in dsm & dsm2

is it worth the 2x the price.....

I have a dx3r so far reception on my sr300 are Very good.... i don't see a problem... but people say it will glitch sooner or later

personally i had a dx3s really loved it , never had 1 single problem with it

and if i recall right my hobby shop must sale 20 spektrum for 1 futaba...

anyways just wanted to know what the big difference in dsm & dsm 2 & the 4pk / 4pl

My 2 cents

I have a DX3R that I have been using for 3+ years now. I can't tell a difference between the sr300 and the sr3100 dsm2 rx. I've been told the dsm2 rx is better, so i've been buying extras of the sr3100 for all my vehicles. I've had 2 of sr3100 go bad. They were in on road cars and never got wet. I've receintly started to switch to the sr300 just because guys at my local track have been running the dsm1 rx with out any problem.

What type of cars do you race? If its off road I don't think the latency issue matters when comparing DSM vs DSM2 IMO. If you are running mod touring car or 1/12 scale I think you would notice a difference however.

I drive both 1/12 and WGT. Both had the DSM SR3500 in them, I recently changed to DSM2 in both and I will be honest, I couldn't tell any difference and my lap times are the same.

BTW, Futaba 4PKS is nice and has some features the DX3R doesn't but not $200 nicer and it isn't the same radio protocol as Spektrum so comparing them to each other is very difficult but both are good and the Spektrum is a tad faster as if that means anything in the real world.

I think your local guys are more brand bias than anything. Not worth the money IMO to change from the 3R.
