Receiver Pack Advice

Hi All,
I'm looking for a rechargeable receiver pack to run with my Kyosho Spada. I am currently using 4 AAA alkalines to power a Novak Ner-2X (old school, I know) receiver connected to a Futaba Magnum JR transmitter. I've been out of the game for a while, and am new to nitro..so I have zero experience with these things, as I've never needed them with my electrics. I'm getting a bit confused with all of the options...what type of battery to get (NiCd, LiPo, NiMH, etc.), how many cells, how many MilliAmps, etc...but here's the real kicker; I need it to have a female connector. I've been having a helluva time getting a plug I jury-rigged to stay on the existing one, so I'd really like a plug that I won't have to reconfigure. I have been looking at the Hobbico HydriMax 5C 6V 2000mAh NiMH AA Flat Receiver U (at Tower; forum won't let me post the URL), though of course it has the wrong connector on it.

Any advice appreciated!

Stick with a 5 cell NiMh type rcvr pack. That won't over volt your older electronics and will give you good service. You'll need a decent charger to take care of recharging. That one you mentioned will do fine as long as it fits.

As far as the connector is concerned, look at using a short servo extension - it has both male and fem and should work as an adapter. Tower has them.
