Looking for stick type radio

Hi I'm new here and have been out of the rc thing for over 25 years. I ordered a couple of rc cars and now need a radio. I do not like the pistol grip type. I'm finding it quite hard to find a good radio at a good price. I would like it to be 2.4ghz but it is not a must. I have been looking on ebay and there are good ones for planes at 2.4ghz between $100 and $150 but for a rc car they are around $250. WHY? I also did see a few am one's but I guess it would be better to go for something fm or 2.4ghz. Can someone point me in the right direction.

If you want to get a good quality stick radio, try the Sanwa Exzes X which is essentially the famous Sanwa/Airtronics M11x in stick form:

Expensive? Yes! But if you take good care of it, it will last years...

that is a little too much radio for me. I'm just starting getting back in rc's. I don't want to pay more for the transmitter that the two complete rc's I have on order.

Here is a no frills entry level 4ch stick radio with pretty good reviews and it cost less than 23 bucks...

I was looking at both of the radio's. The futaba looks good. Has anyone seen is cheaper. ALso the $23 looks like a good deal if it works. Can't see something that cheap working.

But if you have a few cars and only one radio, you will need a radio that has memory that can handle multiple cars.

If you serious about the hobby, you can't go wrong with the Sanwa/Airtronics EXZES X, that radio has a memory for 30 models and totals of programmable functions.

Good luck!

Tray for stick type radio

When I see old time pro car drivers, they always add a tray to rest hands on stick radio....
so, for what I`ve seen, to add precision on stick radios you should also add, adapt a side tray.
This is my guess.
Check this.
