Default How to increase radio distance?

I have a Nitro RC truck. I have the budget for gadget. I only need the how-to. On youtube, a person increased his radio distance to 1,1 miles and drove his RC while watching through a Wireless camera on a screen at home. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pO0o1l0B060

First off, how do I make the increase available distance between the truck and the radio? (In the video description he mentions that he had the "transmiter antenna on [his] roof").

Second off, How can I modify a Wireless camera I would install on my truck to be able to send video signal as far as 1,1 miles like in the video?

Thanks.

A. what he did to modify the range was probably illegal(FCC things)
B. check out hobbycity.com for FPV camaras+transmitters

EDIT: didn't see that you were in Iceland, I would defiantly check with the local authorities/airport on the max output of an RF single

I'll check the maximum allowed RF output signal in Iceland.

In the meantime, I found this 2,4 GHz system and a user says it can last at least 2 miles. ( http://hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=13437 ) How does this work? I buy it, install the camera and the transmitter on my truck, the transmitter sends signal to my reciever which I can plug into a TV, or a PC with a TV-card?

How about power for the camera? Will I have to buy a special battery or what?

If it is illegal, explain this. A person on youtube that runs the site www.rcexplorer.se is often flying his aircraft a very long distance.
Check this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iI_UKiFqRsA

Is this illegal?

its not the range, that is the issue, it is the power output and weather or not you need a license to use it...

Great, where can I get long ranged cameras? =)
Ohh and also, it's legal to buy a good radio right? Some expensive radios can supply a long distance?
