Which charger??

I currently have a MRC 989 charger. I really do like it, but it does not do all the advanced features that the newer chargers do with Lipo's.

I will be charging SC and E buggy 2S-4S packs.
A friend of mine told me look at the Hyperion chargers.

I would like to know what you guys think would be the best charger to go with.

Thanks

Depending on the size of your lipos, if they're 5000mah in capacity, you need a charger that has at least 80 -100watts of charger output power. If they're smaller in capacity you might be able to less.

What size lipos and are you going to be charging and are you looking for an AC/DC or DC powered (requires a separate power supply) charger?

Hyperion dude.

I have tried the check point tc 1030, the gfx turbo, many of the cheap china brands like thunder and b6 models. Hyperion is the best as far as ability to charge up to 8000mah lipo and ease of use. It has the balancer built in, adjustments are easy to program in, and you can charge at 8amps if needed. the checkpoint was a beast but had to many options and needed a external balancer which made it sucky compaired to the hyperion. same with the gfx turbo. just buy the hyperion EOS0606i. I have only seen one break and was fixed by them in less than a month while under warranty.

get an electrifly triton EQ its the only charger i trust

Mr Merc 916 01-25-2011 10:36 AM

hyperion over triton eq?

I had a triton but you can only charge upto a 5000mah battery on it. what happens if you buy a 5600mah battery or a 6000mah or even a 5200mah. what happens is you sell the triton eq for a lot less than you paid for it and buy a hyperion. your choice, just telling you what I had to do once I upgraded my batteries to a larger capacity.

I currently use a venom pro plus charger. It works perfect no problems. I just think I would like the new charger with the power supply built in. Makes it easier to move. Like the Surecharge 2010 i think is what its called.

FS Hyperion 606 EOS Duo 2

I'm selling my Hyperion Duo 2 in the for sale section. Why get one of the best chargers in R/C when you can get two in the same unit ;) Check it out

Hyperions are darn good chargers, but be aware a 606 model is underpowered for typical 1/8 scale 4s car lipos. The 50 Watt power limit comes into play, limits them to around 3 amps on a 4s, less on higher cell counts. Better to consider one of the bigger Hyperions. A Duo model, basically 2 chargers in one unit, is a nice unit if it's within your budget.

I appreciate the info guys. It looks like Hyperion is the way to go. I might pick up that duo3 that is for sale.

Anyone have any feedback on the 615i Duo3?

Thanks
