soldering station question

finally bought a soldering station, I have been using 9 dollar 40w rat shack irons for years now. My question is what temprature should I set this on? I will mainly be soldering deans, bullets, and motor tabs. just want to do things right.

thanks in advance for any replies:nod:

My 936 is set on '400' fwiw.

That's hot enough to handle 8ga wire. I turn it off when I'm finished and don't just leave it sit at temp.

Depends on the solder being used. Lead and/or silver content, use of flux, etc. What solder (and flux) do you use?

64-13 rosin core silver bearing solder,.022 diameter
