So what is the real difference between the VXT1 and the VXT10 BE? And this is specifically in reference to on-road 1/10th Touring...which one is recommended for this application and why? Thanks

vtx1 can run on 1s lipo. (3 amp BEC?)
vtx 10 i think needs 2s min.

I just bought a VTX10R / VST21.5T combo for my FGX. I liked the price/feature ratio on the Viper set, and the ESC was one of the smallest I could find.

They say it has a stronger BEC but the specs are the same. I think the biggest difference is that its black.

It's not really that its stronger, it is but it's that switched over toa different style of BEC. This is what i was led to believe at least. I was supposed to get some to test out but I never did so I can't personally say if they corrected the issues that I had but I do know they are trying to make the product better.

Scott's got the right idea -- without going too technically (sorry my degree is in Mechanical not Electrical Engineering) - the BEC circuit is being processed differently - what you see as that processing difference is external caps instead of internal.

Its really amazing the amount of energy these little motors pull. Really low turn modified motors (4.5 in mod touring), 550 motors on 4wd SC, 4-pole motors on 4wd SC - that is where the difference are made.

so is the Black Edition more so for offroad? I am torn between the VXT10 and VXT10 BE...I am leaning towards the Black Edition because it seems like it has the newer technology with the new version BEC...and remember I will only be using it for 1/10th touring for right now...
