for a 1/10 TC, which appropriate Mod Viper motor to use without shredding
every thing?
giving the right gearing and set up for average racing needs.
have already 17.5 but a back up in case Mod racing comes up in the future.
Thanx.

I lost a receiver last week. It flaked out on on me while messing with steering throw on the bench. After fiddling with plugs and binding for a while, it randomly started working again, and was fine on race night. Then it did the same thing again when I was messing with the wiring earlier this week, except it didn't come back. Now, it's a spektrum, so it could have just died. It wouldn't be the first time that's happened to anyone.

But, it occurred to me that before it flaked out the first time, I had done a firmware update on the ESC. While it was updating, I noticed the RPMs on my fan that's connected to the receiver were much higher than usual with my BEC set to 6v. That would indicate that the voltage was higher during the update.

So for safety sake, it might be best to unplug the ESC from your receiver before doing a firmware update.

Large outdoor? Small indoor carpet? What turn motors are other mod drivers using for your track?

What's the difference between the regular vtx1 and the vtx1 lite that I keep seeing pop up?

Lite versions don't come with the pro gauge.

Well that's confusing, since the description at HRP says it does-

VIP6VSVT01008

VTX1 LITE SENSORED BL ONE CELL RACING ESC W/P.G. PRE WIRED

gripgoat - I can't see how the software update could possibly to anything to a receiver. All it does is write the program to operate the speedo. Kinda sounds like there was something else in play there - just a coincidence.

Originally we did not sell a Lite version of the VTX1, but since it has become more popular, we received requests for it without a ProGauge, so it was added. Can't control HRP's description, but we can try and help them out.

Luppi --- welcome aboard!!! Let us know how we can help, anytime.

My point was that the higher fan RPMs during the update were an indication that BEC voltage was higher than 6.0. That voltage could potentially damage a receiver or servo that isn't designed for it. So it's better to be safe and unplug it.

Stefano,

the default safety temperature on the esc is 220°, then according my experience both in 10.5 and 13.5 boost setting temperature never exceeded
50° celsius.
never runned motor with less of 10.5 turns.

Ciao
Max

Luppi- glad you like the stuff. Also note that the settings for motor and speed control read internal temperature which is different from what you read with a temp gun outside the case (can). Sometime up to 60*F different.

Day 1 at IIC In the books. Viper drivers (and everyone else) were feeling the way out on the track. People making runs, stopping for adjustments breaking in tires.

Mark Smyka was quick over single and 10 lap averages in 1/12 17.5 and 13.5. Donny Lia (using a VTX1) set fastest lap and 10 lap averages in 1/12 13.5.

Josh Cyrul made his Viper debut running both 1/12 Modified and 1/10 modified. Both classes look like land missiles out there.

Hope to get some pics up on Facebook today or as we go along - stay tuned.
