It was a frustrating night after a frustrating day. Once I got it all figured out, the app is very simple to use, I thought. I also like the progauge, it makes tuning the esc very easy and does not req. a laptop at the track. I hope you dont change this, in my opinion, it is one of the selling points of your system.

I do like the esc, dont know if the smart brake made a big diff., but the car did seem easier to drive, and corner entry setup was more consistent. Will see if race lap times improve on fri. night.

Problem here guys. Very weird. It has quite a few of us stumped.

VTX1 ESC in a 12r5.2. I will lose power, only to the motor, at different parts on the track. I still have steering, the ESC doesn't shut off, I just lose all power to the motor.

So far I have tried 2 ESC's, 2 sensor wires, 3 motors, 2 radio's with a total of 4 different receivers, 2 batteries, and two different servo's. This is for 17.5 boosted class but I have also tried running in blinky mode and it does the same thing. I have turned the motor timing all the way and all the way down. Still no change.

Now comes the weird part. With a Tekin RS and a TQ booster, the car works. I'd rather run the Viper if I can but there is something that is just not working.

Anyone have any thoughts without just putting the Tekin system back in?

It sounds like your over heating the motor and the esc is cutting it off to prevent cooking it. There is something wrong either your gearing or boost settings. Ask one of the viper guys to help you with settings to get good speed and not over heating.
Also helps to put a big heat sink and fan on the motor

This happens on the first lap. The motor isn't getting any hotter than a couple of degree's above room temp, if that. Like I said, it does it in blinky mode as well.

I have hit motor cut off with other cars. This is not that. But my ct off is set at 180*. Sensor wire is good. I have tried a couple of different ones and checked them both on my motor checker.

I have no idea what could be causing this apart from a faulty Esc or motor?

All three motors and at least the one ESC that doesn't work for me, work in other vehicles.

It's very frustrating for me.

Must be extremely frustrating haha!
Could be to do with the transmitter ? Which one are you running ?
I use a vtx 10 with a spektrum dx3r and have no issues

Hope its of some help to you as have now run esc and am impressed with it.

Had a similar fault with my VTX1 this is what I had to do with my radio to stop fault.

Has anyone with a progauge played with the PPM monitor? I'm curious to what other radio systems frequencies are.

For example

Eurus FHSS/KR411FH = 177Hz (Adv) 177Hz (HiSpd) 60Hz (Norm)
DX3S/SR300 = 90Hz (11ms) 60Hz (16.5ms)
3PKS/R203GF = 77Hz

But the ESC doesn't shut off, it just drops power to the motor. I would bet that if I put a small receiver pack on it, just to give it some extra juice, and full voltage, it ill work fine. I would bet my car, after doing some research, that it's the internal BEC that can't keep up.

How much output does the VTX1 Booster/BEC have? Adjustable voltage between 4.5-5.5 volts, but hw about the amp rating on it? If I put an external receiver pack on it, I bet the issues go away. Any thoughts on this Erik?
