Honestly? Easy.

Way better quality from Hobbywing and easier to setup trackside against Tekin and all other brands, as durable as tekin. I don't know trinity motors, but i do know really well LRP, X12 are almost the top qualitity but Viper also stands good against LRP. I must say i've never seen such a perfect construction as Viper as. Wait until you see the new motor line, you'll be surprised.

yes, viper is really great stuff. It's up there with the other top of the line stuff. You should be happy.

We run 13.5 boosted TC at my local club (carpet track). Some of the VTX/VST guys are running fans, some aren't. Motor fans don't seem to be necessary as long as you don't go nuts with boost. The guys with no motor fans are running 160-170F with no problems. Right now I'm running an LRP fan and getting temps 125-135F with a pretty aggressive boost program. The speedo's themselves don't seem to warm up much at all. Hope this helps.

Jim C.

BTW: The smartbrake function in firmware A30 is great for TC!

I've got something similar to this http://www.yeahracing.com/catalog/ya...nk-p-1587.html
But on my one the whole fan is in contact with the heatsink. Going to put a Novak fan from a gtb instead of the crapppy one ...
Would that be enough cooling for the motor ?

Looks fine, just work your way up with the boost and monitor your temperature. 160F or less on the can is ideal.

Get or borrow an infared temp gun, pull the car off and measure on the motor can in 2 or 3 different spots. Do this frequently.

what is the difference between the vtx1 and vtx10 - is it just the vtx1 can run 1s?

What would be best suited to 10.5t boosted TC?

I would go with the VTX10 for about the same money it will do a better job for what you want to do with it.. like you said the key selling point for the VTX1 is the single cell lipo option.
