I'm on the market for a new 10.5 motor to run with a hobbywing boosted touring cars. Anyone got any experience of these motors and a hw? If so, how do they go?

As far as gearing the Viper motors, they need more torque so you will gear 1-2 teeth lower in pinion number with the Hobby Wing ESC and Boost. Boost is very aggressive on the hobbywing so please check temps often.

Performance wise the Viper VST motors are more for torque applications. From 10.5 on down to 3.5 they are super smooth and have a good powerband.

Yes Nikos is right, the VTX1 are all prepared. We just need the new instruction manuals printed and they will be ready soon. I have been testing them and they are phenomenal. Lighter than the VTX10 and come in the cool black case. You wont be dissapointed

It depends on the motor you want to run. If you're just running stock classes or boosted classes, the VTX10 will be fine. If you're running mod classes, go with the VTX10R. Both are great ESC's.

i dont want this to happen since shipping back the esc back there is difficult for me.

I have been using the VTX10 and the VTX10r in different classes and it has been solid. In 4wd short course, trying to get the settings down with a 540 motor, which isn't recommended, was a bit time consuming but I did get it to the point that I am very happy with it.

As far as onroad goes, 13.5 boosted class, the thing is a rocket. I'm using it with a Viper 13.5 and I am hitting fast laps less very close to our local fast guy, it's just my consistency holding me back. I am very anxious to try out the VTX1 in WGT. I think it will be awesome.

To answer your question...we totally re-mapped the firmware for boost and all the Viper esc will be very competitive in boost mode soon. We will have official firmware very soon
