Default Hmm

I love my Hyperion eos06060 or whatever it's called. It has it's own power supply built in and charges anything. I got it for 110 shipped on ebay...

It's easy to use...

I like the hyperion chargers. I use to use (2) 606i chRgers and they were great until I started running 1/8 E cars then I upgraded to (2) 615 duos. The Hyperion chargers charge all types of batteries and do it with ease. You can't get it wrong.

This is what a bunch of us use at our local track and it works great and is economical.

If you're going to be running 4S, you prob won't be happy with a 50watt output power charger. They will charge a 4S, but it will take much longer that a charger with enough output power. A 50watt charger will limit the charging current to stay under its power limit and this reduced current takes longer to complete a charge.

A charger with enough power will charge a 4S in about an hour at 1C, but a 50watt charger (Thunder AC6, Hyperion 0606i, Venom Pro, etc) will take up to 40% longer depending on the capacity of the lipo. It takes 84watts to charge a 5000mah 4S. There are a few 100watt AC/DC chargers out there (Dynamite Passport Ultra Triton 2 EQ etc)

The iCharger mentioned will not have this current limiting, Hyperion 0720net3 won't either, but these ae DC powered chargers and require a separate epower supply. Be sure to size the charger to your charging needs or at least understand the compromise you wind up with. I see a lot unhappy guys posting when they realize the charger they bought is going to take 100-110minutes to charge their battery.

You can still plug it in a power supply or is that not the problem.....

The AC6 has 50watts of power on either AC or DC, so power supply won't make a diff for that one. The EQ2 does provide 120watts on DC so it would make a diff running that charger (maybe thats why its $200). Hyperion 06060i is 50watts regardless of input source, so power supply wouldn't matter there either.

Also when starting out having an AC/DC charger is sometimes preferred since its cheaper and is one less piece of equip needed. If you already have a power supply with more than 120watts (approx power needed to run a 100watt charger at full power), you have more options in considering DC powered chargers.
