Ideally the less time sitting at full charge the better.

Be aware that charge state is impacted by temperature. If you do leave a fully charged pack at the very least don’t allow it to get hotter, that’s not good. For example don't charge then leave it a car out in the hot sun.

One thing you can do if you have a charger that has a fast charge or percentage charge option, is charge to 90% or so if you are charging ahead of time. You only give up a little run time on your first run.

Well, I can only do a charge or discharge to a specified cutoff point. So I'll discharge it to 3.7v/cell which would be 14.8v for a 4s pack.

I got a Lipo Sack, but the charge leads and balancer plug don't quite reach into the bag very well. Where can I buy longer charge leads? my charger uses banana plugs and the balancer is built in. I plug in a little board and then attach my battery's balance lead to the correct plug. That is quite a short wire.

Yea, having a small bomb is not nearly as important as a fire starter.

Neither are ideal but I will take a NIXX exploding any day over a lipo that goes up in flames. Not only is the NIXX much, much less likely to start a fire but it also does not have the caustic smoke associated with a lipo fire.

Now with all that said I do not charge in a lipo sack. My only point in arguing with you is that in your original post you seem to think that lipo issues are user error. Plenty of reports on the web to show that is not the case.

Watch Out!

Two identical quality made Lipo bags one in the other will provide more then enough protection if a Lipo goes off and possibly starts taking others cells with it......Many quality bags have a temperature ratings many starting at 1000 degrees F on up.......They're designed and would definitely keep fire from emerging from the Safety bags and the bags would naturally vent.....none close that tight........Wouldn't hurt keeping a mid-sized fire extinguisher close by.

Ammo cans and money lockers sound good and fireproof, BUT if the tops are snapped closed & not vented sufficiently they can also turn into shrapnel bombs and FAST!!!......A loose lid will fly open from internal gases letting high temp flames out. :flaming:

An extinguisher & a single (or more) purchased smoke detector(s) you can hand lay or mount near your charged batteries or charging areas and/or near battery containers at ALL TIMES, might be your greatest comfort when in another room or asleep.....There's a hundred ways you can get peace of mind if you worry about your Lipos possibly going off......and cheap.

And ALWAYS look at your batteries after each use.....ANY dents to the casing is a reason to immediately taking it out of service no matter how long you've had it...... Thanks for reading...JMO
