Hyperion Duo Store Charge
Hey guys,
I've got an original Hyperion Duo EOS0610i charger (the first generation one). It has a function on it called 'Store Charge', where it charges the lipo up to storage voltage. My question is, the charger charges it up to 3.95v/cell. This seems a bit high for me, as I like to store my lipo's at 3.8v/cell. Is there any way to change this setting? Thanks |
The lipo experts on RC Groups maintain storage between 3.7 to 4v/cell is fine, 3.8v gets tossed around a lot only because its in the middle of the range.
Your charger manual doesn't speak of a storge mode per se, but what is called TCS - http://media.hyperion.hk/dn/eos/EOS0610iDUO-MAN-EN.pdf It is adjustable, but you'll have to experiment with it until you find what TCS %'age corresponds to 3.8v. |
Is it reaching 3.95V/cell while still charging, and the current doesn‘t taper off? If so the resting Voltage might be somewhat lower. The Duo3 appears to work that way, uses full current but overshoots some, then the battery falls back.

Nope, the Store Charge actually finishes the charge at 3.95v/cell resting voltage.

From Hyperion -
"Storage - Lipo should never be stored fully charged, or with less than 50% of capacity remaining. We strongly recommend Hyperion EOS chargers, as they have automatic STORE functions to insure that the packs are in the range of about 60%~70% capacity (3.78V~3.92V resting voltage per cell). After returning home for the day, simply use STORE MODE to achieve this automatically. Batteries are best stored in a cool, dry environment (2~20 °C or 37~68 °F)." Store mode on the orig Duo came in an early FW update (v1.5) and does not appear to be adjustable - this was the accompanying description for the new function in v1.5 - Changes in EOS 0610i NET/DUO from Firmware revision v1.5 * VOLTAGE DISPLAY during operation will accurately reflect the voltages at cells within Lithium batteries connected to balancer ports. * STORE MODE for Li~ Batteries connected to balance port has been added. Experience has shown that storage of fully-charged lithium batteries can lead to premature cell failures. Store Mode allows users to insure that their Lithium batteries are Discharged/Charged to roughly 60% of capacity for storage. Not sure if i twas further modified by later FW updates or not. |
